Recordemos que Ricardo empezó jugando la frase previa, del torneo indio y no solo superó las dos rondas de previa si no que llegó a los cuartos de final de este ATP,  por primera vez accedia al cuadro final de un torneo ATP, y lo ha hecho de la mejor manera posible.

Ricardo Ojeda nos ha dado la primera sorpresa del año! Después de superar los dos partidos de previa en el Tata Open Maharashtra, le tocaba lidiar con el checo Jiri Vesely,  número 62 del ranking ATP,  en la primera ronda de fase final del torneo que se celebra en la ciudad india de Pune. A pesar de que las expectativas parecían desfavorables para nuestro jugador, el gaditano salió a jugar con todo y fue por delante durante todo el partido, complicándose un poco el final del segundo set, cuando Vesely quiso reaccionar para evitar la derrota . Gran comienzo de año para Ricardo, sigue así!

Ricardo Ojeda has given us the first surprise of the year! Después de escalar más de 100 posiciones en el ranking, disputar dos finales del circuito Challenger y asegurarse un lugar en la fase previa del Open de Australia, el valenciano acudió al Campeonato de España en Granada con la idea de seguir mejorando y aprendiendo. Lo que Carlos no sabía era que de allí saldría con un par de títulos bajo el brazo: dobles (junto a Pedro Martínez) e individual.  “Estoy contento de haber ganado el Campeonato de España tanto en categoría individual como en categoría de dobles. Estoy contento también de haberme adaptado a las condiciones, ya que había cierta altura y la pista era bastante rápida. El balance del año es bueno, he notado que he mejorado mi nivel, que era el objetivo prioritario. Luego también he ganado buenos partidos, aunque sé que todavía hay que mejorar muchas cosas", confesó el español tras el triunfo.

Estoy contentísima con el año que he tenido, empezando en el ranking casi 700. Ahora toca descansar unos días y prepararse para el 2018", confesó Wallace.

"Volver a ganar un torneo siempre es especial, pero gusta muchos más si después de pasar un año complicado en el que apenas he podido disfrutar de la competición te vuelves a reencontrar con la victoria", confesó tras la entrega de trofeos. Una alegría en forma de impulso para cerrar con buen ritmo el 2017 y pensar ya en el próximo curso.

"Ha sido una semana muy buena, jugando muy bien los cuatro primeros partidos. En la final jugué con margen, arriesgando lo mínimo, pero me puse nervioso en el segundo set. Fue un poco drama, pero acabé ganando al límite. Gané con el alma", declaró el tenista de Pego tras su conquista.

Semana de mucho trabajo y esfuerzo que ayudarán a Wallace a mantener su lugar entre las 350 mejores jugadores del ranking,

"La final ha ido muy bien. Empecé bastante nerviosa, sobre todo al ver que había cerca de 3.000 personas siguiendo el partido. El segundo set lo he comenzado con mucha energía sin dejar que me afectara el primero, así fui cogiendo poco a poco confianza con el apoyo del público. El ambiente ha sido increíble. Ha sido un gran torneo y estoy muy feliz con el resultado, ¡por fin he ganado mi primer $25.000!", confesó la jugadora de Lozano-Altur Tennis Academy tras la entrega de trofeos.

Dos meses después de perder la final del Challenger de Maui, Taro Daniel ya se ha quitado la espina con su primer título de la temporada. El japonés derrotó en la final del €50.000 de Buenos Aires a Leonardo Mayer (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) para sumar su quinto trofeo en la categoría y, al mismo tiempo, asegurarse una plaza entre los cien primeros del ranking. “Ha sido una gran semana, jugando a muy buen nivel. Ganar a un rival como Leo Mayer en la final me produce una enorme satisfacción. Volver al top100 no significa nada de momento, si consiguiera entrar a Roland Garros sí que sería un bonito objetivo por cumplir”, confesaba del nipón al finalizar su gran actuación en Argentina.
